What do you do at Addovation?
I mainly work with NetSuite implementation projects and support. I work with insurance companies, manufacturing companies, gaming companies, hotels etc. They all have different needs and business processes, and it never gets boring as I am working with different parts of the system. Being a NetSuite consultant is very varied and exciting.
What do you think is the coolest about NetSuite?
I have experience working with many different ERP systems. What I really love about NetSuite is that it incorporates tools like SuiteFlow and SuiteBuilder, that enable consultants and system administrators to tweak and customize business processes and user interfaces. In fact, by using these tools, NetSuite can be implemented in 3 to 6 months, which is fast when it comes to ERP implementations. As NetSuite is a cloud-based system, you will always be on the latest version of the system, meaning that customers do not have to go through tedious upgrade projects.
How did you learn the nuts and bolts of NetSuite?
I have been working with ERP for many years and several ERP systems. NetSuite is my 4th system and I believe experience is one of the best ways to learn a system. However, it doesn’t hurt to go through a certification program now and then to stay updated and get that quality stamp on your resume. I have been lucky to go through two NetSuite certification programs, and I’m proud to say I passed them both.
Why is ERP important?
That is a big question! But if I was to sum it up, I would say that ERP systems are great for streamlining business processes and increasing efficiency. ERP systems can be tailored to fit company processes and streamline them, save time and cost, and enable growth.
In your eyes, what are the biggest trends in ERP these days?
Well, the major ERP trend this decade would have to be moving ERP systems to the cloud. If you use NetSuite which is cloud-based, you will get multiple benefits such as quick and painless upgrades, lower operating and scaling costs, increased security and prevention of data loss, and improved accessibility, to mention a few!
What do you like to do besides work?
I have a lot of interests like reading and exercising, but one of my favorite things to do is travel. In fact, my husband and I have a caravan which is a great way to experience new destinations. Last summer, we drove to Nordkapp, which was terrific. Next summer, we might even go all the way down to Italy if I can get my husband on board with the idea.
Thank you, Anna-Carin, for a fascinating chat!
